Christmas Eve

Papers and some files are tidied and group meetings booked in - but that is it for politics !   The Christmas tree is up (it only fell down once), presents finally wrapped and under.  The Frumenty is almost ready.  What is Frunenty you might ask ?  It is an old North Yorkshire custom to eat it on Christmas Eve, and has been called "gruel with its best clothes on", meaning it it kibbled wheat, cooked very slowly indeed all day with skimmed milk, and then you can add what you fancy - cream, run, brandy, honey, dried fruit, spices.  You get the idea, but only if you live very near do you get a taste !  Then off to Midnight Mass at St John's, Egglescliffe, and ready for Christmas Day and what it really means.
I don't know if I have any readers on this new blog, and this is not a typical posting - but if you are out there best wishes for a very happy christmas,
